
Karori Sanctuary Trust is a community conservation initiative with a broad base of stakeholders reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of the organisation. Its stakeholders include local community, conservation industry, education industry, tourism industry and business supporters. See our strategic partners.
As a not-for-profit organisation, the Trust is entirely reliant on donations, grants, membership subscriptions, sponsorships and revenue from ZEALANDIA: The Karori Sanctuary Experience. The operational costs of the sanctuary are around NZ$2 million a year.
The Trust is goverened by a board of seven trustees, chosen for their diverse experienced skill based reflecting the various objectives of the organisation. The Trust has three patrons who were involved in the establishment of the sanctuary.
A team of 15 full-time staff are supported by a volunteer group of over 400 individuals and a member network involving over 15,000 people from the local community. Other support comes from more than 40 local and national businesses, including local government and philantropic trusts. Find out more about our supporters here.
